How to Apply for a Position

To apply for a position electronically, click on the name of the position to open it. Then click on apply for this position. Once your application has been successfully submitted, you will receive a reference number. If you are having trouble submitting your electronic application or have general questions about applying for an open position, please contact us at (810) 257-3709 and someone will try to assist you. In addition, applications can also be submitted via fax or mailed to the Human Resources Office and must be completely filled out. PLEASE NOTE: You must submit all required documentation (copy of college transcripts, certifications, etc.) with your application to continue in the selection process. Resumé must include the following information:  Name of employer, month/year you were hired, month/year you left, if the position was part-time or full-time, and the job duties you performed while in the position.

Hiring Procedures and Standards:  Applications are not reviewed until after the posting period has expired. Applications are thoroughly screened on the basis of job-related criteria such as skill level, paid work experience, education, and training.  Education requirements must be met by the close of the posting period. The most qualified applicants are referred for interviews. Candidates will be notified by mail of their standings. Scores and standings on eligibility lists will not be given over the phone.

Veterans must submit Form DD214 to determine eligibility for Veterans’ Preference.
